During the last few years, we have seen a tremendous increase in frequency of natural disasters such as earthquakes, floods, tsunamis and fires.

The cumulative effect of this is that insurance underwriters have been hit hard and frequently for claims and pay-outs.

In Japan 2018, Typhoon Jebi led to a very long and complicated situation involving vehicle damage/total loss, all amounting to millions of dollars in claims – some claims have still not been settled by some providers.

The net effect is that many large established underwriters have changed their views and stance on continuing to provide “natural disaster” cover which we have had for many years.

Subsequently, Autohub will no longer be able to include “natural disaster” cover for vehicles deemed in our “care and control” but prior to being loaded on vessels.

This change is for ALL vehicles shipped with us from October 29th 2021

Our D2D package insurance cover for damages and total loss will remain the same in all other aspects. There will also be no change in premiums at this time.

Should Autohub succeed in arranging alternative natural disaster cover, we will advise you.
