We would like to remind you of the upcoming regulatory changes that will affect the importation of certain heavy vehicles from Japan.
Effective 1 November 2025, heavy vehicles classified as MD3, MD4, ME, NB, or NC (buses and trucks) with a Gross Vehicle Mass (GVM) exceeding 3,500 kg will be subject to new emissions regulations.
To comply with these changes, all affected vehicles must complete border inspection in Japan before 1 November 2025. Please ensure your agent is aware of these changes and that any vehicles that will no longer comply are promptly submitted for shipping and inspection to meet the deadline.
Affected Vehicles:
Vehicles falling under the affected categories typically have a 3-character emissions code beginning with:
L, F, M, R, Q, S, or T
Future Compliance:
Going forward, vehicles must have an emissions code starting with:
2, 3, 4, 5, 6, or 7
